BeevolutionX Tech

BeevolutionX Tech is dedicated to the continuous improvement of low-energy hives®. This concept, which has been constantly evolving since its creation, paves the way for future innovations to provide an even better response to the needs of bees and beekeepers.

BeevolutionX Academy

The BeevolutionX Academy is an online platform dedicated to the training of beekeepers on the specific conduct of low-energy hives (RBC®). Much more than just a learning space, this online academy is also a living community, a place for sharing and exchanging ideas about RBC®

What is BeevolutionX?

Marc Guillemain, a beekeeper in Auxerre and a keen observer of bee behaviour, is the inventor of the High-performance insulated partitions (PIHP). He quickly realised that bees were expending considerable energy regulating the temperature and humidity of the hive, largely due to the poor insulation of traditional models. His innovation marked a turning point by offering a simple but effective solution for improving the thermal comfort of colonies.

In 2009, Damien Merit discovered PIHPs while observing Marc Guillemain's hives. At the time, the idea of isolating hives was not widely used, and was even frowned upon in beekeeping circles. However, convinced of the impact of this breakthrough, Marc and Damien joined forces to perfect the concept and give birth to what is now known as the PIHP. Low-energy beehive® (RBC®).

The Low Consumption Beehive® beehives designed with bees in mind

La RBC® is not just an improved hive, it's a genuine revolution in beekeeping. This reorganisation of the hives optimises the thermal comfort of the bees, reducing their thermoregulatory effort. The results are tangible: healthier colonies, larger honey harvests, reduced winter mortality, and even a chance to save weakened colonies.

All these advances are based on a tried and tested method: observe, experiment, improve. Every stage of this project has been guided by field observations and rigorous testing.

Marc Guillemain: transmitting and federating

As well as innovation, Marc has devoted a great deal of his energy to passing on his knowledge. Through training courses and discussions at beekeeping conferences, he has never ceased to defend the importance of insulating hives and promoting the Low-energy beehive®. His dream was to make the concept accessible to everyone and to create a community of beekeepers who shared his vision. Despite his efforts to bring people together around the PIHP with the «Parlons PIHP» group, he was unable to see this community flourish in his lifetime.

BeevolutionX: Marc Guillemain's living legacy

BeevolutionX continues Marc's vision and work. Through the BeevolutionX Academy, we are passing on his thoughts and advances, while training beekeepers in the specific management of low-consumption hives. This academy is not just a training centre, it's also a living community, a place for sharing and exchanging ideas about RBC®, finally realising Mark's vision.

BeevolutionX Tech, for its part, is dedicated to the continuous improvement of low-energy hives®. This concept, which has been constantly evolving since its creation, paves the way for future innovations to provide an even better response to the needs of bees and beekeepers.

BeevolutionX is the legacy of Marc Guillemain, driven by a shared passion for bees and their well-being.

Jean-Baptiste Merit

Director of BeevolutionX Tech

Having grown up surrounded by beehives, it was only natural for me to join my brother Damien in offering beekeepers solutions that are tailored to their needs, in particular the optimisation of low-energy beehives.
My role is to oversee the implementation of technological advances aimed at optimising the thermal comfort of bees
